About the Author

Kavi Ocktiiv

Kavi Ocktiiv (Kah-vee ak-tev) is a proud Louisiana native, novelist, playwright, and music engineer whose work is rooted in memory, omission, and cultural inheritance. Tracing his lineage back to 1576, he uncovered profound Indigenous connections to American soil—a discovery that ignited his mission of historical excavation and storytelling.

As the founder of Ink and Innovation, Kavi champions independent voices and historically marginalized stories. He is also founder and director of the Portal of Commencement Midpoint Shelter (POCMS) in Atlanta, a sanctuary for women and children.

10/10

"I can tell Kavi Ocktiiv took his time creating this masterpiece. As I begin to get through the first chapter I could visualize the setting vividly. I love how the author is able to open up your imagination by introducing the mannerisms and slang used by each of the characters. P.S. the Author included a dictionary to define some of the ebonics used by the characters. The Omission of Billy Seldom is a folklore novel for readers who enjoy urban stories less spoken about but also helped shape some of the culture we see today. I'd give the Novel a 10/10 must share with a friend!!!!!!!"
